Executive Team

Dr. Celia Walker

Celia (she/her) is the co-founder and lead of Climate Wise and a Family Medicine resident at the University of Alberta based in Yellowknife on Chief Drygeese Territory. She holds a BSc in Biology & Bioethics from Dalhousie University, a MSc in Global Health from McMaster University, and an MD from the University of Calgary. Celia’s studies abroad and travel experiences as well as her love for the natural world helped cultivate a passionate interest in climate change and its impacts on health. Celia was a past Co-Chair for the CFMS HEART in which she helped lead medical student climate efforts nationally. She is also an active member of CAPE, developed a short film on the health impacts of climate change on Canadians, and was president of the UofC Environmental Health Interest Group at UofC. When Celia isn’t in the hospital or trying to incorporate climate health into the medical curricula, she can be found in a tent, on a yoga mat, or galloping down a trail nearby.

Dr. Nicole Prince

Nicole (she/her) is a first year Internal Medicine Resident based in Ottawa. She is a holder of a MD from the University of Calgary, a BSc in Cellular, Molecular, and Microbial Biology, and a MD-PhD candidate having completed a doctoral degree in Gastrointestinal Sciences. Her current research focuses on diabetes and homelessness. She is a recipient of the Izaak Walton Killam Doctoral Scholarship and NSERC Postgraduate Doctoral Scholarship. Nicole was an executive member of the Calgary Environmental Health Interest Group and co-founded the Climate Wise slides, securing initial funding to expand the project. When Nicole is not pioneering new ideas in research and advocacy, you can find her adventuring - hiking, camping, paddling, and training - with her labradoodle and black and tan coonhound.

Dr. Owen Dan Luo

Owen (he/him) is a fourth-year medical student at McGill University completing his clinical training on the traditional territories of the Kanien’kehá:ka, the Anishinabewaki, and the Omàmìwininìwag. Owen holds a BHSc (Hon.) with a specialization in Child Health from McMaster University. Witnessing the growing impacts of climate change on the health of Canadians compelled Owen to mobilize medical students to advance net-zero healthcare across Canada as the founder of Project Green Healthcare/Projet Vert la Santé, and lead medical student climate action efforts nationally as previous Co-Chair of the CFMS HEART. Owen is also a published, award-winning poet who uses writing to tell the stories of illness and the lives that they impact.

Ericka Iny

Ericka (she/her) is an incoming OBGYN resident at McGill University studying on the traditional territories of the Kanien’kehá:ka, the Anishinabewaki, and the Omàmìwininìwag, places which have long served as sites of meeting and exchange amongst nations. During her medical school training, she held various positions including Senior Vice-President of Global Health for the Medical Students’ Society (MSS) of McGill, co-founder of the MSS Sustainability Committee, and CFMS-HEART committee member. Through these roles, she advocated for health equity and planetary health through student-led initiatives at the local and national level. As she transitions into residency, she is passionate about strengthening undergraduate and postgraduate medical curricula - with an emphasis on addressing the intersection of climate change and human health.
